Home of the NFL Offseason

Hunter Thompson’s BIGish BOARD and some scouting notes

The college football season is FINALLY upon us! In honor of the season starting, I decided to release a portion of my big board. This 2021 NFL draft class had big shoes to fill after how fun the 2020 class was, but from what I have seen so far, this class is just as fun and could be even deeper. Please remember that this is subject to change as the season goes on. And please also give me feedback and thoughts. Anyway, here we go!

Here are some notes and thoughts on my big board before people get mad about their favorite player being too low…

2021 NFL Draft: Trey Lance, NDSU getting 'showcase' game
  • Do I really have an FCS player in my top 5?
    • Yes. Trey Lance is one of the better QB prospects I have ever graded. He grades out higher than Herbert, Haskins, or Murray ever did for me. Do I think he is still raw and could benefit from sitting a year behind a veteran? Yes of course, he is not perfect but he is damn good.
  • The Corners…
    • Jaycee Horn over both Adebo and Wade might be a little more on the controversial side. Horn just brings more to the table than both of those other CB’s. Horn is a SEC tested starting corner who has the physical traits to be an immediate starter at the next level.
    • Then when it comes to Farley and Surtain Jr. it really just comes down to preference at that point. Both are ELITE corner prospects.
  • Do I really have that many Wide Receivers in my Top 50?
    • This WR class is nasty y’all… There are so many immediate impact guys who each bring something unique to the table. This WR group this year is just as deep as last years in my humble opinion.
    • I know some one is going to ask that. And I will be honest with you, there is a chance I haven’t been able to scout them as much as I would like to yet or just haven’t gotten to them yet. With school, work, and life, I sadly haven’t been able to watch enough players as I would like. So please be patient with me during this draft process.
  • Random Thoughts…
    • This draft class has been so fun to watch and scout!
    • Asante Samuel Jr. could be a massive steal for a team on Day 2.
    • Andre Cisco is an absolute ball-hawk in the center of the field.
    • Really like Patrick Jones II, could be a nice pass rush piece for teams.
    • Aidan Hutchinson is a very unique player whose size and athleticism may make him appealing to many different defenses.
