Home of the NFL Offseason

Summer Scouting Report: Tylan Wallace WR, Oklahoma St.

Senior | 6’0″, 185 lbs | May 13, 1999 | Fort Worth, Texas

A feisty receiver with tremendous body control, contested catch ability and home-run threat

Coming off 1.5 seasons with superb production (approx. 130 catches for just under 2,500 yards and 20 touchdowns), Wallace provides a physical yet shifty presence on the outside for the Cowboys. Tylan was likely to declare for the 2020 draft but decided to stay in Stillwater for his senior season after suffering a non-contact ACL injury during practice, that cut his 2019 campaign short. He will look to return to full health and prove that his play was not a fluke.

Strengths of his Game:

  • Physicality, especially for his size
  • Ball skills/in-air adjustments
  • Athleticism
  • RAC ability
  • Run blocking
  • Deep threat ability/route running
  • Contested catch ability

Questions to Answer/Areas to Improve:

  • Limited route tree
  • Release on press coverage
  • Possible versatility limitations due to size
  • Top-end speed (strider)
  • Some frustrating drops but otherwise good hands, more consistency (comes with better QB play as well)

Injury Concerns

  • ACL injury suffered in October of 2019

Way too Early Projection:

Looks to be a day two guy with a possibility of falling to day three. There are questions surrounding how serious his injury is and how it will impact his play. He will have more than enough time to recover before playing again and if he can produce as he was before the injury his stock will rise to a guaranteed day two player with day one upside.

What to Watch in 2020:

Want to see how he can bounce back from the big injury. Would also like to see if he can improve on what he has done already and add a more expansive route tree into his game. Want to see how he can adjust to a young, inexperienced QB room.
