The Washington Huskies have been producing no shortage of NFL talent over the past few years. In 2018, the Huskies had to two talented tailbacks with Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed getting the bulk of the carries. Ahmed was a 12-game starter last season and performed well in his role of starting tailback, earning All-Pac 12 honors. The only thing that needs to be resolved is where Ahmed will go in the NFL draft?
Ahmed rushed for 1,020 yards and punched the ball in the end zone 11 teams last season. Ahmed is very shifty and light on his feet. Ahmed has dangerous open field speed and can turn out explosive plays when he finds the open field. I like his pass catching ability, Ahmed has no problem catching the ball and turning it into a big gain.
Ahmed is not a decisive runner and that will lead to big plays being missed and losing yardage on rushing plays. Ahmed’s vision is something he needs to improve on as well, Ahmed will leave big plays on the field and just flat out miss on rushing lanes being opened. I would like to see Ahmed improve his blocking as well, he has a tendency to be overpowered by defensive lineman that are just performing a bull rush.
I have Ahmed being selected in the seventh round of the draft. I like his speed, but he just needs to put everything together.
