Home of the NFL Offseason

Dezmon Patmon Wide Receiver Washington State Cougars

While Mike Leach was coaching at Washington State, his offenses were prolific through the air and high scoring. Dezmon Patmon is another wide receiver that put up terrific numbers for the Cougars and has the talent to do the same in the NFL. The wide receiver class in this year’s draft is a deep one and Patmon will hear his name called, the only question is, what round?

Patmon has good speed and his body control really comes out in his film. Patmon does a tremendous job of being able to keep his feet in bounds, while catching the ball. Patmon is a crisp route runner and uses his speed effectively in getting into and out of his routes. Patmon makes good use of his 6’4” frame when he goes up and snags the ball away from defenders. Dezmon will fight for extra yards and his effort is consistent.

I would like to see Patmon get more creative in the run after catch area of his game. Patmon can also improve on the area of creating separation from opposing cornerbacks. Patmon needs to improve his concentration and look the ball and reduce the number of careless drops, during the course of the game.

Patmon is a talented wide receiver and he did nothing to hurt his stock at the NFL Combine a week ago. I have Patmon being selected in the mid-fourth to early fifth round of the draft. Chances are the team that drafts Patmon is going to wind up with a player that has the potential to make an impact during his first season.
