Over the years, the Mississippi State Bulldogs have put together some impressive defenses and the 2019 season was no exception. Cameron Dantzler is a long, physical cornerback and for two seasons he caused SEC wide receivers plenty of trouble. Dantzler has plenty of potential that he can unleash upon the NFL and it will be interesting to see where he lands over the draft weekend.
At 6’2” 185 lbs, Dantzler is a physical cornerback that will come up and play the running game. Dantzler is an explosive player and plays with a competitive streak that is impressive, especially when looking at the tape of him playing against Alabama and LSU. Dantzler does a great job of batting away contested passes. Dantzler is difficult to complete a pass on, especially in the red zone.
I like how aggressive Dantzler is but him being physical with receivers could lead to having pass interference penalties being called on him. Dantzler needs to improve in being able to fight off blocks. I would like to see Dantzler improve on his tackling as well.
I think Dantzler is a mid-second to third round selection. Dantzler has all the tools to be an NFL corner. Dantzler has good size and I would expect him to challenge for some playing time depending on which team drafts him.
