Home of the NFL Offseason

Alex Highsmith is a great story, he walked on at Charlotte and evolved into the most disruptive defensive player on the team. In 2019, Highsmith was named third team All-American by the Associated Press and has the potential to continue making bigger steps in the NFL.

Highsmith has tremendous timing and instincts when it comes to anticipating the snap count. Highsmith has impressive footwork and a variety of moves to rush the passer. I like his ability in playing the run game and he does a good job of filling the rush lane. What will stand out on the film is just how productive Highsmith is when he is on the field.

I would like to see Highsmith get better at being able to fend off blocks. Highsmith is an athletic player and I would like to see him become more physical when is rushing the passer. Improving the use of his hands to defeat blocks would also go a long way into seeing playing time on Sundays.

I like Highsmith’s game and think he shows some flashes in what is not a deep defensive end class. I have Highsmith projected as going in the early to mid-fifth round. Highsmith has potential and I look forward to seeing which team will draft him, chances are they are getting a bargain.
