Damon has been overshadowed the past few seasons by his teammate Jeff Okudah. Both Arnette and Okudah the past few seasons have caused problems for opposing Big Ten offenses. Arnette and Okudah will each hear their names called at some point during the draft and add to the growing ranks of Buckeyes in the NFL.
Arnette is a good tackler in both the pass and running game. Arnette surprised me with how consistent of a tackler he is when it comes to defending the run. Arnette is impressive in press coverage, where he is able to jam receivers at the line of scrimmage. Arnette will make plays on the football and is solid at batting the ball away and occasionally picking off a pass.
Damon will have to improve on being able to pick off a pass, he will have passes thrown his way in the NFL and he needs to be able to pick off the occasional pass. Arnette is not a speed burner when it comes to playing a receiver deep. Damon has adequate speed, having recently ran a 4.56 forty-yard dash time at the combine. Arnette has good instincts and is a willing tackler, so he will have no problem being drafted, it is just a question of what round.
I like Arnette’s ability and I have him going in the early second round of the NFL draft Arnette can still slip into the first round, but I think he is pretty set in the second round. Unless, he blows scouts away at the Ohio State pro day, I expect him to go in the second round and contribute early in his NFL career.
