Scouting Report: WR CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma

Athleticism: CeeDee Lamb is blessed with supreme athleticism. His combination of speed, athleticism, and strength is truly something to watch. His ability to manipulate defenders with different gears in the open field is fun. He’s a RAC type receiver, someone who’s capable of going the distance at any point in time. 18/20.

Release/Route Running: His route tree was somewhat limited in college, and he’s very raw with his technique and footwork. However, despite those things, Lamb shows some very good traits on tape. He’s consistent on how he works through contact and doesn’t let the contact remove him from his route. He still works well to spots. 19/25.

Catch Ability: Lamb has good hands, although he struggled a little bit last season with concentration drops. Good catch radius, although not consistently great. Catches pretty well through contact. Will deal with “alligator arms” from time to time and will start pre-thinking his moves upfield. I do like his hands despite the shortcomings, and I think because of his athleticism and ability after the catch, some teams will overlook this about him more than other players. 20/25.

Other Skills/Traits

Field Vision/Contact Balance: Field vision may be the best in his positional group. CeeDee Lamb is outstanding after the catch. Because he has good size, he is difficult to bring down in the open field. Plays with an intensity that makes up for his lack of true contact balance. 14/15.

Blocking Ability: Lamb is a willing blocker and isn’t afraid to engage in contact. Takes on blocks willingly and without hesitation. He needs to work a little more on his technique. Shows good ability to potentially be a strong, lockdown perimeter blocker, but now needs to put it all together. 8/10.

Leadership/Personality: CeeDee has an infectious personality and is a joy to interview. He’s a hard worker, his teammates respect him, and he’s got a clean slate off of the field. 5/5.

Overall

CeeDee Lamb is an exciting prospect and is going to develop into a fine receiver in the league. I think that his upside is on another level. However, his immediate impact in the league is limited by the fact that he is raw and that he does need to refine his game to a good extent. However, his impact on a team in five years could be truly extraordinary. He’s a strong player with a potential hall of fame career ahead of him. I like Lamb as a top 15 prospect, and he won’t fall out of the first round.
