The LSU Tigers are never at a loss for talent and the 2019 football season was firm indicator of that. Jefferson helped a talented receiving corps lead the Tigers to the National Championship and is now looking to take the next step into the NFL. Jefferson is another solid wide receiver in what is a deep position group in the 2020 draft.
Jefferson is a great athlete with impressive deep speed. Jefferson has absolutely no problem with stretching the field and LSU used him effectively in those situations. Jefferson is terrific about being able to adjust his routes, as coverage dictate. Jefferson is impressive in contested catch situations and going up and snagging the football. Jefferson is not afraid to go over the middle to make plays and that is a trait that scouts will love. Using Jefferson as a deep threat will be the goal of the team that drafts him, and he will be fun to watch in a few years.
Jefferson must improve on creating separation, for as fast as he is, it is surprising me to that the amount of separation is more impressive. Fending off pass coverage by the use of his hands can be improved. Jefferson has the potential to become more physical in the NFL to fend off opposing corners.
I am impressed with Jefferson and have him going late in the first round with the possibility of dropping into the second round of the draft. His ability to stretch the field and catch the deep ball will make him a priority for NFL teams that are in need of a receiver.
