The California Golden Bears over the years, has produced its share of talented players and Ashtyn Davis fits that description perfectly. Davis has reached this point through hard work and determination after walking out with California. Davis split his time between the cornerback and the safety positions, and his versatility is impressive.
Davis is an intelligent player with good instincts. Davis has no problems playing the wide receiver in coverage. Davis has good speed for the safety position, which is where I think NFL scouts will want to slide him. Davis has impressive range when it comes to defending receivers and his speed is a pleasant surprise. Davis has a nose for the football and can easily bat the ball or away or even pick off the pass.
Davis is always willing to make the tackle, but he needs to become more consistent in his tackling and improve upon it. Davis is one player that does not have many flaws in his game and teams will love how aggressive he is when it comes to playing the ball or being willing to make the tackle.
I expect Davis to go in the early third round, although I would not be surprised to see him move into the second round. Davis’ speed and versatility make him an intriguing target for NFL teams.
