 Javin White

6’2  211 LBS

Safety

UNLV

Javin White played four years at UNLV. He has played safety and linebacker in his time as a Rebel. In his senior year at UNLV, White showed off his versatility with 1.5 sacks, 8.5 tackles for a loss, three interceptions, and 11 pass breakups.

Strengths

White’s strong point is his versatility; for UNLV, he lined up at linebacker, safety, and cornerback this season. In today’s NFL, versatility is crucial, especially on defense. White has length at 6’2 211 pounds, with good speed and tackling ability. One of White’s strengths is playing zone defense; it allows him to see what is in front of him and gives him the ability to go downhill fast to deliver a blow to a ball carrier.

Weaknesses

While watching UNLV games this year, i noticed White was a little stiff with his hips, which will limit him in coverage against smaller receivers. Being a safety, he should not have to worry about covering too many small receivers; he will probably be asked to cover bigger tight ends.

Conclusion

I can see Javin White being a day three guy, he is athletic, and his tackling ability will grab the attention of NFL teams. White will be a developmental project at safety, but his speed and tackling ability will be able to contribute to special teams right away. White is one of my sleepers in this draft; i think he will develop to be a fantastic NFL player.
