I got the chance to chat briefly with Pittsburgh cornerback Dane Jackson at the Senior Bowl media day on Tuesday, January 21st. The following is a transcript of our conversation.
Draft Rite (John Vogel): I did features throughout the season for games on Thursdays and Fridays highlighting certain prospects. The week you guys played Syracuse was the first week I watched you and I was immediately like ‘Oh, I like this guy.’ So do you prefer to play press or do you like to play off a little bit? Because I know they asked you to play a lot of press.
Dane Jackson: Yeah, man I mean, that was our primary coverage, so, I like to play press but we really didn’t play much off, but I feel like if I needed to do that at the next level then I could get it done.
Draft Rite: Okay, gotcha. So, what do you think, in your opinion, is your biggest strength that you bring to a football team?
Jackson: Ah, you know, just being physical. Being aggressive. Not scared to take my shots. Not scared to go up against the big-time receivers.
Draft Rite: Gotcha. And what do you think is your biggest weakness?
Jackson: Probably getting to handsy, you know, at the top of the route. Being more calm.
Draft Rite: Got you. Do you think you could be more of a run support guy?
Jackson: For sure, for sure.
Draft Rite: Do you think you could take down Derrick Henry? No, I’m just kidding.
Jackson: I mean, I’m not scared of him. I would definitely try, for sure.
Draft Rite: Awesome dude. Hey, I appreciate you taking a minute.
Jackson: Yes, sir.
