A position that received a much-needed boost in talent is the tight end position and over the past few days when Thaddeus Moss declared for the draft. Thaddeus Moss is the son of NFL legend Randy Moss and has quickly become the top player in his position grouping, in this year’s draft. Thaddeus Moss is another player from the LSU Tigers to declare for the NFL draft.
Moss is the most talented player at the tight end position when it comes to being able to catch the football. Moss in his lone season with the Bayou Bengals was impressive. Moss hauled 47 receptions for 570 yards and 4 touchdowns. Moss has excellent hands and will bring in the tough receptions. An area that surprised me about Moss’ game was just how good a blocker he is, especially when you look at the run blocking area of his game. Moss is a tenacious player and his skill set at the tight end position is an impressive one.
An area of improvement is the route running for Moss. Moss uses his athletic ability to make plays and haul in receptions. Once Moss starts to work on draft preparation and be able to show his ability in running the routes, this area will cease to be a concern for many teams. You have to really be looking to find holes in Moss’ game, but everyone has them. For a large number of NFL teams, he is a day 1 starter.
The projection I have on Moss is that he is a second-round selection that could slip into the third round. I expect a team like New England, Chicago, or Dallas to look long and hard at Moss, he is a weapon that would do well for each of those teams.
