JK Dobbins Scouting Report
Speed/Athleticism: JK Dobbins has very sneaky speed and incredible athleticism. He’s a fun person to watch. He has great explosion in his cuts and his burst into the line of scrimmage.
Contact Balance: Shows good contact balance, but won’t absorb huge tacklers. Runs with a very low pad level that gives him a significant advantage. Dobbins doesn’t stop churning his legs. Seems to always fall forward.
Receiving Ability: Dobbins doesn’t have the best hands in the class, but he has a good pair of mitts that allow him to be a threat in the passing game.
Blocking Ability: Dobbins is smart and knows his assignments. Lacks the size and the strength to be an impact blocker in the NFL. Despite this, he is, by all means, a capable blocker and can buy his quarterback extra time. The results will be inconsistent in the NFL unless Dobbins adds more muscle to his frame.
Field Vision/Football IQ: Good field vision from Dobbins. See’s the field well. He knows when to be patient and when to plant the foot and pick up yards.
Leadership/Personality: Comes from a poor upbringing. Plays with an absolute chip on his shoulder. Dobbins is a very humble player, and his personality is outstanding. NFL teams are going to love his interviews.
Overall: JK Dobbins is listed at 5’10” and 217 pounds, but he looks much slimmer on the field. His measurables will be a very big deal to NFL teams to see how his stock grows (or falls). He’s overall a very talented running back that fits the mold of what the NFL is looking for in the positional group. He’s a borderline first-round talent who will most likely be selected at some point of day two.
