Home of the NFL Offseason

S Ashytn Davis, California

#27
HT: 6’1″
WT: 200 lbs
DOB: 10/10/1996
High School: Santa Cruz (Santa Cruz, CA)
Accolades: Senior Bowl.

Athleticism: Runs track at California. Incredibly athletic, moves with quickness, speed and has impressive range. Has a natural ability of being able to flick his hips and quickly change his direction.

Tackling/Hit Power: Davis is an excellent tackler. While not nearly a punisher like some of the safeties in this class, Davis has a consistently solid wrap up technique that allows him to not miss many tackles. Sometimes is too aggressive and doesn’t play the ball correctly.

Coverage Ability: Excellent coverage ability in both zone and man coverage. Has the discipline (normally) to stay in his zone, but also the awareness to see the play developing and react accordingly. His zone defense is superb.

Ball Skills: Incredible ball skills. Understands how to position himself between the receiver and the ball to avoid pass interference penalties. Uses full body to extend and make contact with the football.

Football IQ/Instincts: Incredible IQ and instincts evident through his tape. Constantly pointing things out to teammates throughout the film. Positions himself correctly to move through traffic. Shows an impressive recognition of offensive schemes.

Leadership/Personality: N/A

Overall: Ashtyn Davis has a lot of potential to be a very good safety at the next level. He could use a little more weight on his frame, but his level of speed and smarts at the safety position is something that NFL teams are really going to like. I think if the position was valued more, Davis would be an early second round pick. However, he’s a day two pick at some point.
